The Wild Highway

by Mr. Kanard

With his flowing style that transports us, Julia Verlanger, real name Eliane Grimaître (French author of 70s) advance the time and immerses us in a post-apocalyptic version of our beloved France. Civilization as we know is over. Over the running water and electricity in the house, the Parliament, the President, etc ... At the same time, it's normal, the country (and the world) has taken bacteriological bombs everywhere, so it's not a pretty nice result ...

The hero of the book is a guy by the name of Gerald, this is a "Solitaire (it's funny, but we call them like that because they travel alone ...) a very experienced guys of the wild life, which kills all those who seek him in trouble (or his meat, because the food is rare ...). After the Solitaire, there is the Grouped (it's easy, it's those who live in group) and most are run by a gentleman who thinks he's Hitler or Stalin, as desired. On top of that, there is a disease which runs, the "Blue Plague" it's worse than the plague, and it is not nice to have (or to see).

On his way, he meets a beautiful girl, Annie, and although he's a badboy, his heart (and other things) take over, so it takes her with him, and on top of that, she tell him that she must go to Paris at any price... Let's go on the Wild Highway!

If you liked the first book and this devastated world (that actually looks like our society, the only difference is that there's no doctor or comfort, and to eat, we don't fail our colleague but we killed him) you can read more, "La Mort en Bille" and "L'île Brulée"!

To find it, look for either in your library, and if you have money, look in your bookstores, the price is quite high, it is considered a gem of SF literature ... (Personally someone lent it to me ...)
                                                                                Universally yours, Mr. kanard.
