Do you know The Funeral Suits ? These four guys from Dublin (Brian, Mik, Greg, Dan) sway us a music who come from the Space, a music translated by their soul and that they know perfectly retranscribe.
Having released there is one year ago their debut album « Lily of the Valley », they walk on the scene of Europe, while they working at the same time on some new songs, by ensuring they « have the right ingredients in the right proportion in the right temperature » as Mik (synthé, vocal, guitar) said to me. Although it’s a young band, they managed to give to their composition their own identity, as much in the recording than in the concerts.
A classic line-up (guitar, vocal, drum, bass, synth) who doesn’t prevent them, due to the synth very important for the vibe and the heavy guitar, a amzaing music, see even disconcerting ! In honnor of their name, their music sometimes look like a funeral march. They provide us a dark atmosphère, but who’s whoever not menacing, (Mary’s Revenge, Health…), but they also succeed to give a more hard-tritting rythm (Black Lemonade ! All Those Friendly People, Adventures/Misadventures)or simply with languid song (Colours Fade, Florida, We Only Attack Ourselves…)
The sweet, energic and clear voice of Brian, show us exactly what he want, hypnotic, he tells stories, and he succeeds it, no matter the rythm, fast or slow.
A band that starts and who should be famous, they have a scenic expressions that put in value, with their post-punk look, and especially their very rousing performance!
You should watch their musicvideos too, weird, strange, beautiful, and which express many things ! Especially the small treasures « All Those Friendly People, Health, Hand Down» which, for the expert will remember the novel of William Bolding “Lord of the Flies.” When I asked why, they told me they loved the book, and it was a questioning of the Human…
